This week Australian Story features exclusive behind-the-scenes access, as Black Caviar retires from racing.
Two years ago Black Caviar became the first animal to be the subject of an Australian Story in the program’s 16-year history.
Since then, her legend has grown and gone global.
This week’s special edition provides the first glimpse of Black Caviar’s full sister and the larger-than-life statue of the mare by acclaimed sculptor Mitch Mitchell.
Fade to Black concludes a saga that has somehow captured the imagination of all kinds of people all around the world in a way seldom seen.
Black Caviar’s farewell appearance on Saturday is expected to be a ‘no dry eyes’ recognition of a rare connection between a horse and a nation.
Australian Story takes viewers behind-the-scenes for the closing moments at Caulfield.
