Airdate: Le Tour Prologue

FOX Sports is getting into Tour De France fever with a nightly panel show despite not having any coverage of the race itself.

2013-06-25_1233FOX Sports is getting into Tour De France fever by announcing a one-hour nightly panel show, Subaru Le Tour Prologue, despite the fact it doesn’t have any dedicated coverage of the race itself.

The launch of the new show, to coincide with the centenary edition of the Tour de France, is set to present the tour like never before.

Cycling tragic and host Ed Philips will be flanked by former national champion, Bridie O’Donnell, and ten-time Grand Tour rider Nick Gates each night for an entertaining and revealing hour of Le Tour insights.

As a competitor and as a team director, Gates has been involved in six different Tour de France campaigns and has all the expert knowledge that comes with the territory:

“I’m excited to be part of something new for cycling coverage in Australia. Having ridden with Cadel Evans and managed Alberto Contador I can’t wait to share some insider knowledge and hopefully answer a few questions along the way. What we’ll bring you is a very different approach to what Aussie audiences are used to,” said Gates.

The regular panel will be joined by nightly special guests and experts as the tour unfolds and will have renowned Aussie cyclist Scott Sunderland on the road in France for the latest news in and around the course.

Subaru Le Tour Prologue will take viewers from Mt Dandenong to Mont Ventoux with all the fun in between. Nowhere else will Le Tour fans find such a unique mix of news, entertainment and expert opinion.

  1. I love this event more every year. Indeed I now look forward to it more than any other sporting event. It is simply spectacular. Full marks to SBS for bringing it to us.

This is the most laffable thing I have heard of in years. SBS has vision (needed for a TV program) and Liggett (needed if you want a legitimate cycle commentator) and Fox wants to go up against them?

And people wonder why I drink.
