2013-06-07_2318TEN News will become available via free WiFi as part of a new deal between the network and GoConnect.

GoConnect will roll out free WiFi points, starting in Melbourne, which will offer an advertising-funded WiFi television platform called Go Ten Free WiFi TV (that’s a mouthful!) featuring breaking news throughout the day and content from TEN News At Five bulletin.

Go Ten Free WiFi TV will be available initially in several Melbourne locations, including Flinders Street Railway Station and The Jam Factory shopping centre.

By October it will be available across the Melbourne Central Business District.

It is expected that Go Ten Free WiFi TV will also be available in Stockland shopping centres.

GoConnect and Stockland Property Management Pty Ltd announced in November 2012 an agreement to launch the GoConnect Free WiFi Marketing Platform in Stockland shopping centres.

Stockland Property Management Pty Ltd manages 42 shopping centres owned by the Stockland Trust in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland.

Go Ten Free WiFi TV will be available initially in the Stockland Balgowlah shopping centre in NSW.

Network Ten Executive General Manager, Melbourne, Russel Howcroft, said: “We are very excited about our new deal with GoConnect and the opportunity to bring TEN content to people when they are on the move.

“In just a few years, smartphones have become ubiquitous in Australia. Increasingly, people want to access content – particularly news content – wherever they are, whenever they want it, and on whatever device they want to use.

“Go Ten Free WiFi TV is the perfect product for the time. It is also the perfect way for advertisers to reach consumers when they are on the move and fully engaged with their smartphones,” he said.
