Airdate: The Unknown Movie Show

The host of a new movie review show on Channel 31 asks "Can a watchable TV show be made by me from just stuff lying around the house?"

UMS_promo1A new movie review show is coming to Channel 31 Melbourne, The Unknown Movie Show.

Creator Aaron Southgate told TV Tonight, “My concept was this: can a watchable TV show be made by me from just stuff lying around the house? Well. I guess now we get to find out.”

Southgate says his show will highlight obscure celluloid treasures from cinema past, as well as reminding us of titles that were forgotten and includes a weekly guest reviewer.

Instead of focusing on new releases, UMS showcases film obscurities from cinema past that either warrant re-viewing or are best left buried. Each highlighted in three weekly categories of…

GOOD: excellent films that went by virtually unnoticed.
BAD: formulaic films- nothing new or revolutionary, but enjoyable.
UGLY: films that appear to be good, but are awful.

The six-part series includes guest reviews weekly from movie aficionados David Moriarty (film student), Anil Desai (comedian/actor), Jamie Helmer (writer/director), Tara Judah (film programmer/critic), Lee Zachariah (filmmaker/critic/TV presenter) and Ben Hutchings (comic book creator).

The show was created entirely by its host- Aaron Southgate, who developed the concept after his trade as a cinema projectionist ended in 2012 when 35mm film became redundant.

Friday 25th Oct 2013 at 10.30pm on C31 Melbourne. Southgate hopes to bring it to other community channels soon.
