The Grammys hearts Same Love vows

One of the memorable moments from yesterday’s Grammy Awards involved an exchange of vows by straight and gay couples before a performance of “Same Love” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mary Lambert and Madonna.

“When we say music has the power to bring people together at the Grammys, we mean it,”  Queen Latifah told the audience.

“Tonight, we celebrate the commitment to love by all of these beautiful couples,” she said. “We are gathered together here to celebrate love and harmony in every key and every colour.”

When 33 couples made their commitments, Madonna performed Open Your Heart.

The crowd loved it -even Keith Urban got teary.

It may not have been Madonna’s best performance, but the power of the moment overshadowed any concerns.

The other highlight from the show was of course Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr together, celebrating 50 years for The Beatles in America.

  1. Pd Salter your right, the sound mix was terrible, i have a surround system but the whole show sounded flat, with vocals being drowned out in the mix, Paul McCartney sounded nearly dead! A similar thing happened at the Academy Awards last year where nobody could hear Adele’s vocals, the exception was Shirley Bassey and Babs but somebody needs a lesson in live mixing.

  2. Oh and David whats the story with foxtel and the Grammy’s Beatle’s special
I remember a couple of articles you published with foxtel pushing this as a big key piece of programming
But watching the Grammy’s it appears they are delaying broadcast for 2 weeks until the 23rd Feb

  3. The broadcast had some terrible sound issues.
But no one else seems to have commented on it …. i don’t know whether i was having issues with the surround sound on the HD channel or what
