Returning: Modern Family -plus 6pm repeats.

Modern Family will return to Mondays on TEN, with 6pm repeats on weeknights.

2014-02-12_2320New episodes of Modern Family will return to TEN following the Winter Olympics, now on a new night.

We kick off with a double new episode from 7:30pm Monday February 24.

“The Big Game / The Old Man & The Tree”
With a big football game coming up, Cam is showing no mercy even when the opposing team is playing with a disadvantage. Meanwhile, Gloria is on edge with her mum in town.

Interestingly TEN will also screen repeats at 6pm weeknights from Monday February 24 too.

Doesn’t look like any chance of Reality shows moving back to 7pm anytime soon.

  1. Nine and seven going to 60 mins news has really hurt the project. I think ten need to seriously consider having there news starting at 5.30-6.30. Followed by the project. The 6pm hole has to be filled with quality. It is driving too many people away and modern family is just not the answer.

  2. I’m not sure TEN needs MF at 6pm but it’s an improvement from the Simpsons. Maybe, just maybe, they have a plan for 6pm and see no need to let the proverbial cat out of the bag just yet!

  3. Don’t understand why people continually bag The Project!

By now, they have a very large and loyal group of viewers (including myself) – if you don’t like it, don’t watch it, but there are plenty that do watch it!

Why should it be axed/shortened/moved just because some people don’t like it – What about the people who do like it??!

  4. Why not do a 7pm show similar to Eggheads or Mastermind? It could have a variety of questions. The show could have well known people as well those who’ve applied to be on the show. The questions could be related to General Knowledge, specific, (Eggheads) they could include issues from the current week.

And like Eggheads the value of the prize wouldn’t have to be big, or like other shows (TBYG) the honour of winning is its own reward.

IMO currently 10 is relying too heavily on people that don’t come from the wider community, but are actors, comics, well known etc.

  5. Its the 6.30pm half of The Project doing really badly in ratings – less than 300,000 now. The 7pm half often makes top 20 in ratings.

While I agree with reality stripped at 7pm on TEN, and The Project just 6.30-7.00, that would probably be the death of The Project.

Their chance to make The Project be half an hour and strip 7pm is now lost – the 6.30 ratings have dived since Seven and Nine have gone for one hour news.

  6. Another stupid decision by Ten.

How many millions are these dolts getting paid?

I have seen some eps of MF 4 times and now they are gonna show them all over again.

I agree with other comments – I no longer no when a new ep is on because of all these repeats.

Definitely Ten’s version of 2.5 men and TBBT.

  7. Ten spent hundreds of millions trying News and Current Affairs against Seven, Nine and the ABC and got smashed. 4th entrant will get no joy there.
They are best sticking with their news at 5-6pm which does OK but is facing increasing competition from Seven, Nine and the ABC.

Ten has tried everything possible since their once profitable 16-34 strategy was destroy by digital technology (including the 16-34 strategy again). They know what works and what doesn’t.

The best they can come up with is replacing repeats of The Simpsons with repeats of Modern Family. That probably isn’t good enough to survive.

  8. Contest shows worked for Ten when Idol and Masterchef were popular and no-one else was doing them. It hasn’t since and being in third in the genre is a disaster.

Ten’s show are unlikely to do that well at 7pm and viewers they do gain would flick over to Seven’s and Nines. Iit leaves them with disastrous PG hole at 8pm (as well as their 6pm one).

Stripping stuff at 7pm as counter programming used to work but now Ten would just get carved up by Eleven, Go!, SBS2, 73, GEM all doing the same thing.

The Project is cheap, has a news exemption for M content in the PG slot and is local content. It rates as well as anything Ten has. Shortening the Project ads 7pm to Ten’s list of problems, and cancelling it adds 6:30pm as well.

  9. Why Ten continue to remain so loyal to The Project is beyond me. The ratings aren’t justified in its current slot, and there’s been a golden opportunity at 7pm for several weeks for Ten to jump in with something competitive. I would have it at 6pm as a lead out from the news and put something stronger at 7pm. How about new Modern Family on Mondays at 7pm and repeats across the rest of the week. Or Biggest Loser as many have suggested?

  10. I know what you mean David. A 7pm reality show is screaming out to me too. It would be a very smart move by TEN if they did it. It worked so well for them for many years. I never really understood why they chose to change that.
