2014-03-25_1638BBC Three recently renewed several comedies including Bad Education which has screened in Australia on ABC2.

The series, which stars Jack Whitehall, Mathew Horne, Michelle Gomez, Sarah Solemani, was renewed along with Bluestone 42 and Some Girls, all receiving six episode orders. It is also due for a remake by US network ABC.

New commissions include a prison comedy titled 600 Days which follows straight-laced Luke, who finds himself sentenced to two years in a Young Offenders Institution along with his girlfriend’s brother Jason; and Top Coppers, an action comedy about police detectives John Mahogany and Mick Rust.

Shane Allen, the BBC’s Controller of Comedy Commissioning, said: “This raft of new and returning comedy series celebrates how successful the comedy on Three remains and is a timely reminder that we’re still very much open for comedy business. To have three comedies hit a third series stride is a monumental achievement. With Top Coppers and 600 Days we’re backing a new wave of talent as both have sublime casts and are exciting additions to the comedy slate on BBC Three.”

BBC recently announced BBC Three is set to become an online-only channel, which has generated a petition of over 200,000 signatures.

  1. I watched the first season of this, and found it amusing.
Started watching the second season and after the second episode I found myself wondering why I was watching this rubbish!
    So I stopped.
