Hot Seat vs. Million Dollar Minute
Million Dollar Minute has lifted since its launch, but still has its work cut out to topple Hot Seat.

The game show battle is about to heat up with Family Feud entering the fray at 6pm on TEN.
But meanwhile Nine and Seven’s offerings continue to slug it out at 5:30pm.
By the looks of this graph, supplied by Nine, Million Dollar Minute has lifted since its launch, but still has its work cut out to topple Hot Seat. It peaked last month when a contestant was vying for the show’s top prize on repeated nights.
This graph is based on Weekly averages, Consolidated Data*, Total People, 5 City metr for Survey weeks beginning Sept 16 2013 – June 22 2014.
*until June 13

@markninety – fair enough, I misread your second para.
And I’m no fan of Seven, just facts, which we both seem to have now nailed to the table.
SS – why do you think I also spoke about Nine and Sydney and Melbourne, or are you just another one of Seven’s loved cheersquad, with blinkers on?
Fact is fact – take Perth and Adelaide out and Seven’s shows (apart from a few) are not as strong as they seem.
Same can be said for some Nine programs in other cities.
Again – fact.
@markninety – another fallacious argument. What you’re really saying there, is that Perth and Adelaide shouldn’t really count. It’s just as valid to say that Hot Seat (along with Nine’s News) is only in the position that it is because of Sydney and Melbourne.
Million Dollar Minute (along with Seven News) only gets so close to Nine because of Adelaide and Perth. Take those 2 cities out of the equation and much of the Seven Network struggles (apart from a couple of gun programs).
The same can be said for Nine in Sydney and Melbourne, to a lesser extent.
Seven wins regionally because of the huge regional Queensland audience. Nine does much better in NSW and Victoria.
It really shows a complete gulf in viewer preferences based on where you live.
It makes for interesting reading.
Global TV studios is near my office and I saw people heading inside for Family Feud tapings this week.
Will never be as good as Steve Harvey in US version, it is one of the most enjoyable shows around, check out episodes on YouTube if you have not seen it before.

Good to see people came back to Hot Seat.
Im in Perth no idea why people watch mdm.
What’s Million Dollar Minute’s target audience?
This graph also shows the negative affect Grant Denyer had on MDM’s ratings. Simon Reeve deserves a lot of credit.
MDM will only beat Hot Seat when a contestant is playing for big money. The problem for Seven is those episodes are scarce and the ones getting to the big money don’t rate that well. Perhaps they should tweak the format so all 3 contestants play for the million each night but every question a contestant gets wrong during the game they lose $100,000 off the million. So if a contestant has a perfect game with no incorrect answers and has the most amount of points at the end they get to have a crack at winning the million by answering the 5 questions in the MDM. They only have one chance at it so every night you have 3 new contestants. If they don’t answer the 5 questions at the end correctly they still leave with a consolation amount of money e.g. $10,000.
