UK period thriller Ripper Street is back on TEN next week for its second season.
These episodes aired in the UK last October after which the show was axed by the BBC. But it was then thrown a lifeline by Amazon for a third season, with Matthew Macfadyen and Jerome Flynn still on board.
“Pure As The Driven”
When a sergeant from K Division is thrown from a window and impaled on the iron fence below, DI Reid’s investigation leads him and his team to Chinatown and a new and destructive opiate: heroin.
10:40pm Thursday August 28 on TEN.

Given what a disaster this program was in the plum Sunday primetime slot lst year, TEN must have an contractual obligation to play out series 2, hence burying it in such a shit slot, having said that could they really do any worse primetime Sundays that they are now with misresable repeats?
Putting stuff that rates worse on in early slots doesn’t help your scheduling problems.
I find it almost staggering that Ten can afford to program Ripper Street and Blue Bloods post 10.30 given their scheduling woes.
No faith in trying this in the 8:30 Thursday timeslot? SVU repeats will only work for so long, time to rest them…
Wasn’t that keen on the first season, especially with Channel 10’s practice of suposedly editing/ hacking it back to 50 mins.
But I will watch purely for Damien Malony.
(He was brilliant in Being Human).
Considering how thin Ten’s schedule is right now, they could have given it a shot in an earlier slot. It doesn’t look like it would be too hard to follow for the casual viewer and could appeal to a Friday night audience maybe.
