ABC Adelaide staff receive formal redundancy notices

ABC Adelaide Staff were notified of termination dates yesterday ranging from mid-February to late June.

2014-11-21_1355TV Tonight understands ABC production staff in Adelaide were issued formal redundancy notices yesterday, ending nearly six decades of production by the TV Production unit.

Staff were notified of termination dates ranging from mid-February to late June.

But unions are understood to have concerns that the consultation process has not finished for ABC TV staff.

ABC Adelaide will now produce local news only.

Up to 400 jobs are going nationally following cuts by the federal government.

Managing Director Mark Scott has previously said, “We regard the changes as vital to securing the long-term health of the organisation but I acknowledge that is no comfort to those who will lose their positions.”

ABC TV Adelaide marked its 50th anniversary in 2010.

  1. -@fairdinkum-Actually ABC24 comes out of both Sydney & Melbourne at various times of the day.
Aside from the News what programs does ABCTV Adelaide produce in its studios? Just asking.

  2. This sort of dreadful decision and others made by the abbott government won’t be easily be forgotten by the ABC faithful come the next federal election

  3. Very sad as that is where I started my 42 years in ABC television. Very bad decision making when the axing of the unwatched and pitiful ABC News 24 could have saved those jobs, but News 24 is out of Sydney isn’t it !
