Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul has broken US records as the biggest premiere series on cable.
According to Variety:
Better Call Saul which shifts to its regular Monday timeslot tonight, debuted with 6.9 million viewers and 4.4 million adults 18-49. The previous high for a cable premiere in the demo was USA’s The Dead Zone in 2002 with 4 million viewers in the demo.
Among all series premieres during the 2014-15 season, Saul ranks third in 18-49 (3.4 rating), behind only ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder and FOX’s Empire (both 3.8).
The series had its premiere in Australia on Stan yesterday, but will also be available 24 hours later via EzyFlix.tv which is offering a $10 season pass for a limited time. That differs from Stan’s monthly fee of $10 (the first month is free) -which of course comes with a lot more content.
The show is also available on iTunes for $30.99 for the series and for $24.99 on Google Play as a download.

Do you know if Better Call Saul will be screened on free to air television? I’m so hoping it will be, as I loved the Breaking Bad series, and particularly the Saul Goodman character.
My understanding is no.
Would it be a bad idea for someone who has yet to watch Breaking Bad (I know, I’ll get on it soon) to watch this series? How spoilery is it?
Not a bad first episode – really enjoyed it. Seems like there is a rich background to “Saul Goodman” as a character
I will wait until ch 2 shows it for free and no chewing up bandwidth.
I’m so glad it lived up to my expectations. I know it is very early but if Bob Odenkirk keeps up the form an Emmy nomination is on the way.
ezyflix seems to being down at the moment anyway
Will Better Call Saul be shown on foxtel at any time?
Nope.
I suppose we will never know how many Australian viewers watched on Stan, assuming Stan won’t be releasing any ratings/viewing figures?
