Rohan Dennis world record attempt on SBS

SBS 2 will broadcast Australian cyclist Rohan Dennis' attempt break the World Hour Record.

2015-02-06_1614This Sunday SBS 2 will broadcast Australian cyclist Rohan Dennis’ attempt to make history by breaking the World Hour Record.

Dennis will race against the clock Live on SBS 2 from 11.50pm AEDT, and streamed Live online via the Cycling Central website.

Dennis’ attempt will take place at the Velodrome Suisse in Grenchen, Switzerland, where he will
be trying to break the current hour record of 51.852 kilometres held by Austrian Matthias
Brändle.

Dennis comes into the record challenge with great form, straight from claiming a surprise victory
in 2015 Tour Down Under.

The 24-year-old who rides for BMC Racing Team said “When I look at my experience on the
track and the numbers I have been doing on the track and on the road, it is within reach. As
long as I don’t get too excited at the start and control my nerves, the pacing will take care of
itself.

The world hour record attempt will be broadcast Live on Sunday 8 February on SBS 2 and
online at www.sbs.com.au/cyclingcentral

  1. The UCI has recently updated the rules for the hour record allowing modern light weight aerodynamic UCI track bikes to be used.

    Jens Voigt, a 43 year old German, set the first new record as his retirement from professional cycling. Since then there have been attempts to extend it every week before Tony Martin sets one when it is in peak form that will be very hard for anyone to beat.
