Sarah Ferguson’s documentary series on Labor’s leadership during the Rudd / Gillard years will air in early June.

The Killing Season is named after the last week of Parliament before the winter and summer break, known as the most dangerous time for a vulnerable leader.

It features frank interviews with former Prime Ministers Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard, as well as a comprehensive cast of the main players of the time.

Series Producer/Director Deborah Masters said: “This series is a real life political thriller, a riveting watch – forensic research, strong writing, beautifully realised filmmaking – audiences are taken inside one of the most explosive political stories of our time.”

Writer/Presenter Sarah Ferguson added: “The Killing Season offers the thrill and intrigue of the best political dramas, with the same compelling themes – loyalty, ambition and betrayal. The candour of both Rudd and Gillard is remarkable and sometimes shocking.”

Tuesday 9 June at 8.30pm on ABC.
