Childhood’s End: trailer

First trailer for the new Syfy miniseries filmed in Melbourne, Childhood’s End.

Written by Arthur C. Clarke and hailed as a revolutionary work of science fiction since its publishing in 1953, Childhood’s End follows the peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious “Overlords,” whose arrival begins decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture.

Adapted by Matthew Graham (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes), it stars Charles Dance, Julian McMahon, Mike Vogel, Colm Meaney, Daisy Betts and Yael Stone but also includes locals such as Ashley Zukerman, Sachin Joab, Simone Oula and Lara Robinson.

You can spot hints of Melbourne in this trailer.

No airdate has been announced.

I want to reserve my judgement but that trailer has all the musical clichés of every other “big event” movie or miniseries. Not a good start.
