Former lifestyle presenter Clayton Lush, who presented Adelaide lifestyle series Building Ideas, is facing jail time after admitting to participating in a crime syndicate and three aggravated counts of cultivating cannabis.

Adelaide District Court heard cannabis was found growing hydroponically at three properties owned by Lush in January 2013. ABC reports police also uncovered about $20,000 in cash after his arrest.

Lush, 41, formerly played for South Adelaide in the SANFL.

Building Ideas, a branded entertainment show produced by the Master Builders Association of South Australia, aired on WIN Television’s NWS9.

Lawyer Andrew English said Lush was extremely remorseful for his offending. Since being arrested, his carpentry business had collapsed, and he had lost his family home.

“A lot of his income at the moment is going towards paying the debts,” English said.

Prosecutor Mikala Ballard said cannabis was sent interstate on 41 occasions, with a total value of $7.4 million.

She said $1.15 million was intercepted when it was being sent back to South Australia through the post, and $107,000 was recovered by police on the day of the arrests.

The syndicate had been operating since 2007.

Lush has already spent 10 months in custody and remains on bail.

He will be sentenced on a date to be fixed.
