ABC News 24: MH17 Memorial

ABC News 24 will today mark the first anniversary of the Flight MH17 tragedy Live at 11am.

ABC will today broadcast the memorial service to mark the first anniversary of the Flight MH17 tragedy Live at 11am (AEST) on ABC News 24.

ABC News Breakfast will broadcast from 6am, live from Canberra in the lead up to the National Memorial Service in the Great Hall at Federal Parliament House.

The two-hour service will honour the 298 passengers and crew, including 39 Australians, who died when the plane was shot down on July 17, 2014 in rebel held eastern Ukraine.

It will also acknowledge those who were involved in the recovery and investigation process.

The Government will unveil a plaque in the House of Representatives’ gardens in Canberra with the names of those whose lives were tragically taken.

Families of the victims will also be in attendance.

During News breakfast, Michael Rowland will speak with guest Paul Guard, the son of Jill and Roger Guard, a Queensland couple that died in the tragedy, and Angus Houston, the retired Air Chief Marshal who led Australia’s response to the MH17 investigation.

The program will also be available afterwards on ABC iview.
