Airdate: Reality Trip

Next week SBS 2 begins Reality Trip, a 7 part series in which five NZ adolescents in three different countries encounter people and situations unfamiliar to their Western lives.

In each country they work and live alongside locals, with the full cultural immersion proving to be a life changing experience for each of them, altering their outlook on life.

Episode One: “Philippines – Electronics Factory”
This episode introduces the five young New Zealanders (Peter, Stephanie, Anna, Stevie and Keiran) and sees them fly to Manila, Philippines. Once there, they are put to work on the production line at an electronics factory which produces components for computer hard drives. They spend two days at the factory and at night they sleep and eat in the homes of two other workers at the factory. At the end of their two days they are paid according to the quality of work they have done, with only the girls meeting their targets. They then meet the owner of the electronics factory to find out why his workers are paid so little. Meanwhile, despite only being a few days into the trip, there’s already some minor conflict developing between some of the group.
