On Sunday SBS 2 will premiere “bite-sized doco” Humans of SBS 2, which is inspired by the popular Humans of New York photo blog.

These are 5 minutes in length each night.

There’s a strong need for storytelling now more than ever. Creating connections between
people, storytelling opens the opportunity for prejudices, assumptions and judgements to fade.

Award-winning filmmaker couple Epiphany Morgan (director of prizewinning documentary The Room) and Carl Mason set themselves a challenge – to create a documentary every day for a year.

In a project which started as a personal journey, but soon became something bigger, the aspiring storytellers travelled through five continents, 30 countries, and 70 cities to meet 365 strangers and create 365 short documentaries over only one year.

The bite-sized documentaries, called docobites, aim to break down fears, prejudices, cultural and religious barriers, and overcome the dangerous ignorance that seems to pervade the world, and each docobite is as unique as the stranger it features.

Whether featuring the life of a stranger for a moment or a day, the docobites capture the essence of that time in their life; humorous or horrific, dramatic or delightful, creating slices of life in a truly global sense.

Inspired by the popular Humans of New York photo blog, Humans of SBS 2 is an ever- expanding daily archive, a global census, a snapshot of life in different countries, a storytelling and story-sharing hub where human truths inspire goodness – and to remind people that all of humankind is similar at their very core.

6.35pm Sunday, 19 June on SBS 2 and continues nightly.
