Not quite The Recruit, nor NRL Rookie, but tonight Racing.com will premiere The Jockey Apprentice which looks at Racing Victoria’s Apprentice Jockey Training Program.

RV Chief Executive, Bernard Saundry, “Our Apprentice Jockey Training Program aims to not only help young riders reach their potential in the saddle, but educates them in areas such as nutrition, exercise, business and media so they can grow as well-rounded athletes and ambassadors for our sport.

The Jockey Apprentice airing on Racing.com will follow the careers of some of the sport’s brightest young stars and highlight their achievements as they learn what it takes to be a professional athlete. From the first episode, viewers will get a unique and interesting insight into our apprentice jockeys.”

The Jockey Apprentice is a six-part reality series that will follow the lives of 48 apprentice jockeys who are being educated via the AJTP. It will feature monthly half hour episodes tracking the journey of young riders who are learning to become jockeys in one of the most competitive racing environments in the world.

Led by a team of experienced support staff and coaches, the AJTP puts apprentice jockeys through their paces in a specialist high performance environment where they are required to hone their race riding skills and gain certified qualifications while also being supported to develop post-riding pursuits.

In tonight’s premiere episode, viewers will welcome the AJTP class of 2016 as they begin their four year journey in the program, and watch as recent graduate, Jordan Childs, heads internationally to compete in an invitational series in Italy.
