2016 International Champions Cup Australia: guide

Nine network will broadcast games from MCG and China, including Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus & Atletico de Madrid.

Nine network will broadcast the 2016 International Champions Cup Australia, featuring Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Atletico de Madrid at the MCG later this month.

Coverage begins with Australia’s A-League team Melbourne Victory playing Serie A champions, Juventus.

Alex Rolls, Nine’s Network Executive Producer – Wide World of Sports, said: “Tottenham have just had their best EPL season yet, Juventus have won the Italian title for the last five years and Atletico Madrid have reached two of the last three finals of the UEFA Champions League.

“Adding our own Melbourne Victory into the mix this year adds terrific hometown excitement – once again, some of the world’s best footballers will be in our own backyard at the iconic MCG.”

The Nine Network will feature expert commentary from former English Premier League and A-League forward Michael Bridges, and ex-Danish and EPL goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.

Football commentator Brenton Speed will call all the action, with Nine Network sports presenter Clint Stanaway anchoring the coverage.

As part of the International Champions Cup coverage the Nine Network will also televise three overseas games, featuring megastar clubs Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City – Live from China.

  1. Whatever happened with moving sport from Gem to Go (as per your article November 11th last year). It seems Nine still use Gem for sports when it is not on their primary channel (e.g NRL in AFL states)
