Industry and fans rallied behind much-loved comedian Russell Gilbert last night at a Gala 4 Gilbo fundraising event at the Palais Theatre in St. Kilda.
Gilbert, who suffered a series of medical and personal setbacks last year, appeared on stage at the end of the event, hosted by Mick Molloy.
“Thank you so much. It’s amazing. I’ve been working really hard and getting better,” he said.
A host of famous faces attended the event including Dave Hughes, Kate Langroek, Sean Micallef, Red Symons, Glenn Robbins, Wil Anderson, Brian Nankervis, Trevor Marmalade, Bob Franklin, Richard Stubbs, Lawrence Mooney, Denise Scott, Judith Lucy, Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann, Scared Weird Little Guys and Colin Lane.
Funds raised will help to provide for Gilbert’s rehabilitation and ongoing care.

Lovely to see so many comedians supporting Russell.
Have always liked him – seems like a lovely, humble guy who has never felt the need to resort to obnoxiousness or crudeness throughout his comedic career.
