  1. I’ve watched quite a few of the women’s games, and this was the best yet. Yes, it was given every opportunity to get good ratings, given the footy landscape that weekend, but kudos to Australia’s best players who made it a game well worth watching.

The quality of games will drop a little in February, as the best players will be distributed across the eight clubs. But every individual player will be improving all the time, with focussed coaching and a strong preseason.

    Bring it on!

  2. I went to the women’s game and it was brilliant. The crowd was 6,300 strong. Unfortunately, the way the cameras were set up, most people watching on tv would only have seen the much smaller crowd on the narrow grass opposite the grandstand. But the grandstand was packed.
    What a great night.

  3. This match was good however the ratings were an anomaly. Firstly the competition was weak. No other Live sport on FTA at the time. Secondly there is a 3 year wait after the innitial Early Sunday Arvo game o the same variety which also was good in ratings. Next yrs short season doesnt really show confidence that this will fly long term Its during the AFL Pre Season. Although if any womens league can succeed at the moment it would be the Women’s AFL in large part because of how Cashed-Up AFL are not to mention CA for WBBL. WNBA in states is hemorrhaging money so even the best female talent doesn’t always equal financial success.

  4. No competition from no where also reason season is being played Feb- March…..after the cricket..good for women to play footy but lets syop the siper hype etc about the games ,if that was the best of the best….
