Brett Lee, Mike Hussey have both parted ways with Nine’s cricket commentary team, but neither way pushed according to the network.

“As part of Nine’s stronger and deeper relationship with Cricket Australia, Wide World of Sports is providing Michael Hussey to host and report for Cricket Australia’s digital platforms this summer,” Nine’s director of sport, Tom Malone, told the Daily Telegraph.

“Mike will provide the link between Nine’s commentary team and the Cricket Australia digital content.

“Brett Lee’s new business interests and young family are taking up increasing amounts of Brett’s time and there isn’t the space to squeeze in his commentary commitments as well.

“Both Brett and Mike are well respected and much-liked members of the Nine family.

“They’ve made great contributions to our broadcasts and we hope to work closely with them again in the future.”

Nine is reportedly in discussions with Kevin Pietersen and Waqar Younis for commentary appearances throughout two Test series against South Africa and Pakistan.

  1. Mike Hussey & Brett Lee have tried their best in professional commentary during the summer. They showed respect towards the game where they didn’t crack any jokes. I think it’s about time That 9 need decent commentators. Not just the rubbish coming from JB, Healy, Tubby.

  2. Doesn’t surprise me they gave the articulate Michael Hussey the flick, he attempted to provide professionalism and insight on the game instead of chatting about his twitter, where he should eat/drink that night and just being the blokeist bloke that ever commentated. Put another way, he left the imbecilic Taylor, Healy, Warne and Slater in the dust.

Surprised they’re looking at a specialist commentator from Pakistan as of recent years they’ve typically shied away from any experts from opposing teams that didn’t come from predominantly white nations.
