Ray Martin will present a documentary for regional broadcaster, Prime7.

Ice: The Scourge of Regional Australia will expose the dramatic public consequences of an increasing ice epidemic in regional and rural Australia.

Prime7’s Head of News Paul Patrick said, “Ice use in regional Australia has soared a staggering 150% since 2007, in comparison to 16% in metro centres*, so we have a responsibility to highlight the devastating impact this addiction is having on families in regional communities.

“Telling a story of this magnitude needs the very best people, and we are delighted that Ray Martin accepted our offer to join the team to bring this story to the people of regional Australia.”

The Prime7 News production will air in December at a date yet to be announced.

  1. Does this mean the doco will be shown Australia wide, or just in places where Prime broadcasts ?

I’ve been living in a regional area for the last three months, and can’t help but notice the ice scourge here. People openly shoplifting and not even caring if you can see them. People walking around like absolute zombies. And the biggest tell-tale sign of all is witnessing people screaming obscenities into their mobile phones while walking down the street. Something has to be done about this problem. I realise it will cost a lot of money, but in my opinion it will be money well spent. These addicts need help, and there needs to be a massive increase in spaces available in good rehabilitation centres.
