Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery: Feb 15

Julia Zemiro's guest of honour is political journalist Annabel Crabb.

Tonight on Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery the guest of honour is political journalist Annabel Crabb.

As a political commentator and host of Kitchen Cabinet, Annabel Crabb is one of Australia’s most respected journalists and broadcasters. These days she spends much of her time in Canberra, covering politics, but she feels most at home on the family farm outside Two Wells in South Australia.

About an hour north of Adelaide, Two Wells was imaginatively named for two wells dug by the first white settlers in the area. These days it’s surrounded by grain and sheep farms and market gardens. Annabel pulls up in the family ute to collect Julia in the town’s main street and take her down the track to the farm.

Annabel takes Julia on a tour inside the farmhouse, to her childhood bedroom and the kitchen where her mum Christobel instilled Annabel’s love of cooking.

They head down to the creek that flows beside the farmhouse, where Annabel and her brothers hung out as kids.

Massive gum trees line the banks of the creek, with their roots and branches providing the framework for hiding spots and cubby houses. Annabel tells Julia about the dangerous games she and her brothers played, including the time she was shot in the face while hunting mice.

8pm Wednesday on ABC.
