ABC this week turns its attention to bullying, with Bullied featuring Ian Thorpe.
On Wednesday night ABC2 screens Cyberhate with Tara Moss, reveals her own online experiences of violence and hears from Q&A producers about the online abuse some guests face.
It will also be available on iview as shorter elements from Tuesday night.
In this revealing series, author, journalist, TV presenter and human rights advocate, Tara Moss tours the darkest corners of the web to uncover the cyber violence that’s impacting so many people today.
Moss, a social media user and advocate against cyber bullying tells her own story of dealing with online threats and abuse, and affirms the positives and negatives of online life. She reveals first-hand stories of cyberhate from others in the public eye, and members of the public who have unwillingly been thrust into the spotlight through online attacks.
Via scientific and social experiments, and interviews with experts, victims and self-confessed ‘trolls’, Moss lifts the cloak of anonymity and disinhibition, and guides us through the complexities of online ethics and digital democracy to investigate why fury and bullying is reshaping the online world, and what we can do about it.
Will the Internet become a place where only bullies have a voice, or is a digital democracy still possible?
9:30pm on Wednesday 15 March on ABC2
