An upcoming SBS series about people with home remedies is on the hunt for people from across Australia.
The unnamed series is to be produced by Warner Bros. TV (The Bachelor).
“Do you have an amazing home remedy? A DIY cure you can’t live without? Maybe a health trick that’s been passed down through generations?” a casting notice asks. “These may tap into the knowledge and practices of different cultures and communities.”
“From Alopecia to Allergies, Headaches to Hair Loss, Toothache to Tinnitus, if you have a remedy for any health issue we want to hear from you!”
Participants must be aged 18 or over and an Australian citizen or resident.

Will the show be called “One Weird Trick”?
…This could be dangerous. “Oh this cured polio back in the day” “My great grandmother took this every day, and she was cured of cancer!”
Don’t get me wrong, homeopathic medicine sometimes works; it’s just a really sketchy scientific field. I hope that if the series is made, there’s some time dedicated to the scientific or medical evidence that could possibly be at work.
Science isn’t everything y’know. Plenty of old grandma’s home remedies that work without requiring clinical studies or big-pharma backed trials. Let’s just enjoy the show for what it is: infotainment.
