Metro Screen Fellowship mentored at Subtext Pictures

Emerging director Rebecca Greensill will undertake mentorship with Ellie Beaumont & Drew Proffitt at Subtext Pictures.

Emerging director Rebecca Greensill has been awarded the 2018 Metro Screen Open Fellowship.

Selected from nine candidates she will undertake a full year’s mentorship with Ellie Beaumont and Drew Proffitt at Subtext Pictures (Dead Lucky), with $15,000 to support her throughout the year.

“The is a great opportunity for Rebecca and will enable her to progress her career in the television industry with an established company that has a slate of projects in production and development”, said Kingston Anderson CEO of the Australian Directors Guild. “The judges believed that the investment in Rebecca’s career would be of great benefit to her and the industry.”

“It’s an incredible honour to receive the Open Fellowship. It has given me the opportunity to pursue what will be an invaluable next step for my career. I’m very appreciative of the ADG for continuing the fine work of Metro Screen in encouraging development for early-career filmmakers and to Subtext Pictures for supporting both myself and the fellowship program” said Rebecca Greensill when she heard the news.

The Fellowship has given us a great opportunity to assist in the development of her career and we are excited to be working with the ADG and Metro Screen to encourage the next generation of filmmakers,” said Eliie Beaumont & Drew Proffitt.

A Metro Screen Production Fellowship for 2018 will be announced in late January.

Rebecca is a writer and director who has worked in film and theatre. Her directing credits include the short films “Tender” and “Happy Guy” and theatre productions “the Vagina Monologues” and “Up For Grabs”. She has written and directed music videos and worked as a script editor and episode writer for “Home and Away”.

She will be working on the development, creation and research of a number of new shows, from concept to show bible, the preparation and delivery of pitches to networks and distributors as well as the plotting & writing process. She will also be assisting with the final stages of post-production of Subtext’s current project. Rebecca will be mentored in how to work with broadcasters and distributors during development, Pre-production, Production and Post-Production from a Writer/Producer perspective including the Tone/Style/Design of a series, experiencing director interviews and how they go about collaborating on the vision of a project with the creators.
