Exotic UK crime drama Death in Paradise has been renewed for an eighth series.
The series will see Ardal O’Hanlon head up the team as lead detective DI Jack Mooney. O’Hanlon takes over from Kris Marshall in the 7th season.
ABC begins Season 6 tonight.
Tim Key, Executive Producer, Red Planet Pictures, says: “We’re delighted to be returning to Saint Marie for more fun and intrigue – as well as some big surprises. It’s a joy to work on a show that is so loved by its audience and we can’t wait to head back to Guadeloupe and start filming later this year.”
Corrected.

The ABC is showing #6.1 Erupting in Murder. O’Hanlon first appears in the S6 double episode final.
BBC First is currently showing S7, a few days behind the UK.
6th season starts on ABC tonight. 7th season currently screening in UK.
S7 is also on BBC First on Foxtel day-and-date (allowing for time zone differences) with the UK.
Death in Paradise had some vicarious attractions (especially Sarah Martins) in it’s first and second season but with the first main actors leaving the show (which is understandable) just as they start to find their feet in the role the show has now become just another formulaic British detective series with an added tropical fantasy diversion for those living in cold drizzly climates like Britain.
The first actor left the show as he supposedly couldn’t cope with the heat knowing he was in a suit all day
