“Craig will rise to the top again”

Ahead of profile court case, the partner of Craig McLachlan shares insight into the eye of the storm.

A civil case for Craig McLachlan begins tomorrow in Sydney.

Ahead of the case McLachlan’s partner, conductor Vanessa Scammell, has spoken to 2GB’s Steve Price defending him and giving some insight into how they have coped as a couple.

“I have absolutely no doubt that Craig will rise to the top again,” she said.

“I have absolutely no doubt. In fact a very dear friend… 2 days ago said to us, ‘This is but a comma. This is not a full stop.”

Scammell expressed disdain at the media pile-on, “savage” coverage and lack of due process.

“Craig often describes it as like when you throw a stone in a pond, the ripple effect,” she explained.

“He talks about an atom bomb being thrown in a pond and the after-effects are still rippling for family and friends and supporters.”

“We basically are determined and will do everything we can to move through this and clear his name. For everyone to realise that the person who is Craig McLachlan is not the person who has been painted.

“Craig McLachlan is not that person. He’s kind and gentle and funny… yes he’s mischievous.

“But one of his greatest assets is that he loves to make people happy and comfortable.”

She also paid tribute to the network of Doctor Blake fans worldwide.

“The Doctor Blake fans have been absolutely, staggeringly supportive of Craig. They have fan clubs, discussion groups, Support Craig McLachlan groups going on.”

McLachlan has denied all allegations made by Rocky Horror cast members. A police investigation is ongoing.
