Nine launches mentoring initiatives for women

Hugh Marks announces new opportunities for staff members at Nine.

On International Women’s Day Nine has announced two internal mentor initiatives directed at female staff.

Women at Nine and 9GEN are for professionals with more than, or less than, 9 years industry experience respectively.

“At Nine we have made great strides in our cultural change to educate and provide more opportunities to the many great women who make up our workforce. I want to thank all those who have supported this change and encouraged those around them to embrace a new way forward for our business,” said CEO Hugh Marks.

“From a corporate perspective, we are pleased to have a 50/50 gender split on our board, having reached this level without the need to mandate for a quota and on our own accord, long before any of our peers. We have similar numbers across our Executive and Senior Leadership teams.”

Women At Nine
The purpose of this program is to inspire and enable senior executives to perform at their best. The program facilitates mentoring partnerships which provide women with opportunities to reflect on and grow their leadership capabilities. To be eligible for the Women at Nine program, you need to have more than 9 years experience in the media industry and have commenced or aspire to a leadership role. The Program is designed to provide women the opportunity to be carefully matched with senior executives from within the organisation.

9GEN
This program is designed for those wanting support and professional advice for important decisions, workplace challenges and goal setting. To be eligible for the 9Gen program you need to have less than 9 year’s experience in the media industry.

Nine will also launch a subscription-based platform Future Women with events, forums, networking opportunities and content edited by Helen McCabe, and showcase female achievers in Through Her Lens live events.
