  1. Apologies if you have addresses this before David, but do you know why the AFL figure in the main chart appears to include viewers from the multi channels, but the NRL figure does not?

    1. Good question and it is one I have raised in the past. It gets back to how networks code. My understanding is Seven and TEN code as “network” so that a show on multiplatforms can be merged where applicable, such as AFL. Nine codes as channels meaning NRL is separated. I think it does them a disservice as you are pointing out, and have quizzed them on this in the past.

      1. Thanks David. It is surprising… they scrap and argue over interpreting every ratings result (and even produce graphs!), yet they don’t help themselves with accurate, or at least easy-to-compare figures for NRL.

          1. Is it not coded by Nine like that on purpose? Given the miniscule ratings in 3 markets.

No idea why Seven changed, used to do the same.

But to help you both out and as David indicated, OzTam issued the following in January 2017:

“Programs with the same name on one or more primary or multi Seven, Ten or SBS channel, are aggregated into one network figure”.

No idea why Nine didn’t want to take part, but I’m confident my guess at the start of this post (wanting to hide results in some markets) may be an answer.

            You’re welcome 🙂

  2. It seems the Australian TV audience looked at their EPGs last night and let out a collective ‘meh.’

We are not quite into school holidays yet and well into ratings season so having everything sub 900,000 is a pretty poor reflection on the quality of product on offer.

    1. Demographics are very important for commercial income. Goggle box is stupid. Ten and Rove have to be happy with those ratings so far.

Mostly Foxtel recordings for us last night and I will watch full Rove Movies show after I soaked in the F! on ONE on Friday and TenHD = 13 on Sat/ and Sunday 🙂

  3. Stellar audience for the AFL in Melbourne, can still draw a FTA crowd in excess of 400k! Those shares, particularly 7Two and 7mate also impressive, both north of 4%. Seven will be happy, given the Married At First Sight finale week.

Good on Ten too, against live AFL and NRL, Gogglebox and launch of Show Me The Movie rated very decent.

        1. By the way the NRL ratings are almost identical to last year at the same time. However FTA is down and Fox is up. The point I made was that 9s coverage is poor and 7s coverage of AFL is superior from what I have been told. This explains why 9s share is dropping.
