  1. It would be outstanding to see the Western Derby played in prime time once again, there were some Saturday night games when Ten had the AFL rights, it would help them win Perth in the last decade. It’s quite the event for the WA market. More people watching a game than Melbourne yesterday (2 mill v 5 mill) says something powerful.

      • How are the Perth ratings double the NRL ratings? And aren’t the AFL figures for multiple games? Comparing apples with oranges me thinks!

        • I thought it was obvious I meant that the AFL total nationwide ratings were double the NRL nationwide ratings and no, the AFL ratings are not for multiple games.

          • Actually it wasn’t and no they didn’t. The ratings nationwide for afl were nowhere near double the nrl. Not even remotely close!

          • It’s there in black and white!!
641k for AFL vs 312 for NRL that is more than double
As the OP was commenting on FTA figures, that is what I’ve commented on.
Both the AFL and NRL had one game on FTA.

    • I hope we’re not getting into code wars people? Numbers are 5 city metro not nationwide. NRL also has additional numbers on multichannels. Rule of thumb is AFL does better in metro, NRL better in regionals.

      • Sorry, David – it was more an aside – thought it was obvious I meant FTA.
Why do Ch7 include multichannels for AFL and Ch9 doesn’t for NRL?- although don’t think they would be much – like the AFL multichannels.

        • I’ve raised this with Nine before, including again recently. I understand they don’t seem to concerned about it as all the numbers go to their advertisers etc. I appreciate it is frustrating from fan perspective.

        • Just shows how cautious we need to be before we make ambitious claims? The national figure for these programs includes fta metro and regional and pay tv. If you are going to compare like with like nationally you have to include all three.

  2. Wow Ten must be pleased with the all important demographics results. I am biased towards Ten as I worked for them for almost 17 years but I also feel that the results are justified.
    Here is why:
MKR was spoilt this year by silly over the top Promo’s full of misleading information & viewers have voted with their remotes, including us.
The Voice has never produced real star, not like Idol has when it was on. Ten needs to get Australian Idol back. It is still a great star producing show in the USA. We watch that on Foxtel.
Bachelor rates in the mid ranks. We don’t watch the Paradise version but we watch the two other Aussie versions when they are on. To me these results are great news for 10 and a strong message to 7 & 9. Hope they are capable of listening. 🙂
