ABC screens 2018 UK sci-fi / crime The City and the City from this Saturday.

Based on the novel of the same name by China Miéville, the story follows the investigation of a young woman’s murder in the fictional twin cities of Besźel and Ul Qoma in Eastern Europe.

The cast includes David Morrissey, Mandeep Dhillon, Lara Pulver & Maria Schrader.

The 4 part BBC miniseries was scripted by Tony Grisoni (The Young Pope, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, Queen of Hearts) & directed by Tom Shankland (Ripper Street, The Missing, The Leftovers and House of Cards).

A dead woman is recovered at Bulkya Docks, on the border between Beszel & Ul Qoma – two cities with a dangerous & volatile relationship. The body was witnessed being dumped on the wasteland, presumed to have been a prostitute.
