Airdate: Everything’s Better than a Hooker

CI screens a doco about a a sex worker who became a symbol of the fight for women’s rights.

Crime + Investigation will screen French produced documentary Everything’s Better than a Hooker about a a sex worker who became a symbol of the fight for women’s rights.

In 2013, a woman in Sweden was stabbed to death by the father of her children during a meeting with social services. In the past, the court had decided that, despite a history of violence, the man would get the sole custody of the children, because their mother had previously worked as an escort. A staggering investigation of a murder that shook European public opinion and turned a sex worker into a symbol of the fight for women’s rights, in a film that struggles (and wins the battle) against anger and mourning.

Saturday August 4 at 9.30pm on Crime + Investigation.

  1. There has been a very concerted campaign to present “sex work” as a career choice by those who profit from it. What other occupation condones abuse as a requirement of the job, and makes it almost impossible to leave? Good for this woman, if she is helping to shine a light on the tragedies on this form of slave trade.
