Ultimate Fighter coming to TEN

Updated: Mixed martial arts content to screen on ONE.

UFC has signed a deal with TEN to screen reality show The Ultimate Fighter on ONE.

The mixed martial arts show pits two teams of fighters against one another in a series of elimination contests. Aussie Robert Whittaker features as a guest coach.

Updated: The Ultimate Fighter: Heavy Hitters returns for its 28th season on Thursday, 30 August, at 9.30pm on ONE.

ONE will also be home to two Live UFC special events, the live finale of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavy Hitters and UFC Fight Night Adelaide from early December.

Network TEN, Head Of Sport, Matt White said:  “UFC is a massive sport with a huge fan base and TEN is really happy to be back in the Octagon. This deal gives UFC fans exactly what they want – a regular free-to-air home, dynamic content and access to the sport’s biggest stars. UFC is a great partner and a great fit for TEN Sport.”

FOX Sports has been the UFC’s Australian broadcast partner for 10 years but it isn’t clear if the Free to Air deal impacts the STV one.

  1. TEN would do well to pickup one of the indie Wrestling promotions. Yeah yeah it’s scripted and etc., etc., but still great escapist fun and with Ninja Warrior doing well the full contact gymnastics aspect of it may go down well.

Since the Fight Network (Anthem) bought Impact Wrestling it has improved from it’s TNA days and are now affiliated with World Series Wrestling Australia, also either Ring Of Honor, Lucha Underground or even the New Japan Pro Wrestling shows that air on AXS in the US would be good (NJPW toured here in February).

  2. Foxtel and Fetch have both signed deals with UFC within the past year or so for pay-per-view events. So it will be interesting if Ten gets anything else apart from what you have mentioned.
