Alec Baldwin charged after parking spot dispute

Alec Baldwin was arrested and taken into custody for allegedly punching a man during a dispute over a parking spot.

Alec Baldwin was yesterday arrested and taken into custody in New York’s Greenwich Village neighbourhood for allegedly punching a man during a dispute over a parking spot.

The Associated Press reports he has been charged with misdemeanour assault and harassment, and has been ordered to appear in court on November 26.

According to witnesses Baldwin and another man argued over a parking spot near 10th Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan’s West Village when Baldwin allegedly took a swing. The alleged victim was said to have been taken to a hospital.

On Twitter, Baldwin stated, “Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today’s story. However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false. I wanted to go on the record stating as such.”

The arrest comes the day before this week’s Saturday Night Live, where Baldwin is a frequent guest playing President Donald Trump.
