Preliminary hearing for Craig McLachlan case

NSW court hears Craig McLachlan declined a Vict. Police interview.

The NSW Supreme Court heard on Friday that detectives from Victoria Police are investigating complaints of indecent assault and assault against Craig McLachlan from 2014.

ABC and Fairfax Media, both of whom are being sued by McLachlan for defamation, reported that he declined to be interviewed by Victoria Police.

Commissioner’s barrister, Trent Glover, told the court his client withdrew that application on Thursday night.

He told the court one reason for the withdrawn application was that at 5:03pm on Thursday “Mr McLachlan’s lawyers advised Victoria Police he would not be participating in an interview with Victoria Police about the investigation”.

The case returns to court next Friday. The defamation trial is set to begin in the NSW Supreme Court in February.
