Renewed: Project Blue Blook

Earlier this month UFO series Project Blue Book was renewed for a second series.

Coming to SBS, the series is based on the true, top-secret investigations into UFOs and related phenomena conducted by the United States Air Force in the 1950s and 60s.

SBS Channel manager Ben Nguyen recently told TV Tonight, “It is kind of X-Files territory, a little bit of Indiana Jones set in the Cold War of the 1950s. They are UFO stories with Cold War politics and Russian spies.”

The series stars Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) and Michael Malarkey (The Vampire Diaries).

Produced by Robert Zemeckis for the History channel it is averaging 3.4 million US viewers in Live+3 delivery.

“We are believers in Project Blue Book and so is our audience who has sparked a conversation about the hundreds of unsolved cases and our nation’s military response to UFOs that have remained relatively secret until now,” said Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, History.

“Zemeckis, A+E Studios and our extraordinary creative team have shaped a compelling narrative that is the perfect blend of historical authenticity and entertainment that inspires curiosity in our viewers to learn more. We’ve touched on a very relevant topic and look forward to a second season.”

A date on SBS has not been confirmed.

  1. Sounds like ‘Dark Skies’ if folks remember that from a while back, which itself was inspired by the success of the aforementioned ‘X Files’.
