Laura Linney as “Mary Ann Singleton” & Olympia Dukakis as “Anna Madrigal”

Netflix has released first photos for Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City, the revived US melodrama, first seen in 1993 and later in 1998 & 2001.

Laura Linney, Olympia Dukakis, Paul Gross and Barbara Garrick all reprise their roles. Aussie Murray Bartlett replaces Marcus D’Amico as ‘Mouse.’

It is expected to screen mid-2019.

About Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City: Inspired by the books of Armistead Maupin, Netflix Original Limited Series Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City begins a new chapter in the beloved story. Mary Ann (Laura Linney) returns to present-day San Francisco and is reunited with her daughter Shawna (Ellen Page) and ex-husband Brian (Paul Gross), twenty years after leaving them behind to pursue her career. Fleeing the midlife crisis that her picture-perfect Connecticut life created, Mary Ann is quickly drawn back into the orbit of Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis), her chosen family and a new generation of queer young residents living at 28 Barbary Lane.   1. That’s fabulous news!!! Can’t wait to see it. Hadn’t heard a thing about a new series so this is a lovely surprise.
    I really hope they replay the original series as a refresher before the new one begins. I’d so love to go back down memory (Barbary) Lane 🙂

  2. They got the original Brian back! Looking forward to this also – the original show (and the subsequent discovery of the books) was a revelation for me when I was younger, the early books in particular full of outrageous coincidences but seriously addictive. Armistead remains one of my favourite authors – must get round to reading his ‘Logical Family’ memoir.
