A new premium HBO drama Chernobyl launches next week in the US, and TV Tonight has confirmed it will be available weekly at Foxtel On Demand from Tuesday.

The 5 part series dramatises the catastrophic nuclear meltdown in 1986 and features Jared Harris, Emily Watson, Stellan Skarsgård, Ralph Ineson, Fares Fares, Adam Nagaitis, and David Dencik.

Episodes will drop weekly at On Demand.

A broadcast date is yet to be confirmed. A lot of drama viewers are watching on their own schedules these days so it’s good to have access to this one same date as the US.

  1. If done authentically this show will not be easy to watch, it is an historic example of extreme human folly that can be easily blamed on the communist system but could happen anywhere if similar politically circumstances prevailed, it’s difficult to imagine that apart from the 20.000 who died as a direct result of the radioactive fallout after the accident the lives and health of hundreds of thousands of Europeans will have Chernobyl to blame for many decades to come, interestingly the Germans are building a solar energy installation close to the fallout site, also many tonnes of contaminated soil has been removed, where it has been dumped is anyone’s guess.
