Saturday May 18:

From 7am (AEST) Weekend Breakfast hosts Josh Szeps and Johanna Nicholson look back over the campaign and forward to what lies in store for Australians as they cast their vote.

Stay with the ABC throughout the day and into the evening for lively and insightful commentary and rolling news coverage from around Australia.

At 5pm (AEST) Jeremy Fernandez and Tamara Oudyn host a special one-hour edition of ABC News on ABC TV and ABC NEWS channel, with a round-up of the day’s big stories and live crosses to reporters across the nation as polling booths prepare to close.

From 6pm (AEST) Australia Votes: Election Night Live is on ABC TV, ABC NEWS channel and iview with Leigh Sales, Annabel Crabb, Andrew Probyn, Laura Tingle, Barrie Cassidy and Michael Rowland. Get up-to-the-minute results, updates on key marginal seats and crosses to candidates and key political figures around Australia.

ABC’s Chief Elections Analyst Antony Green will also add his unrivalled insights to his 11th Federal Election.

The election night panel will include Liberal Senator Arthur Sinodinos and Labor Senator Penny Wong.

When the results become clear, we’ll be live with the leaders as they claim victory or concede defeat.

Following this, Ellen Fanning hosts a special edition of The Drum, reviewing the events of the day with guests: actor and writer Magda Szubanski, SBS Chief Football Analyst, presenter and human rights campaigner Craig Foster, author, podcaster and editor at large of Future Women Jamila Rizvi, and political journalist and Professor of Global Affairs at Griffith University, Stan Grant.

Sunday May 19:

At 9am (AEST) on Sunday, Barrie Cassidy presents a 90-minute Insiders with analysis from panellists Niki Savva, Patricia Karvelas and David Crowe.

  1. That team, an Alan Jones-free zone, no commercials, and the analyst that the commercial networks watch on the side. Not a hard decision to make here. Just hope the ABC IT people have Antony’s gizmo working properly for him this time.

  2. ABC has the best panel, so much knowledge combined, my tele will be on ABC all night. We’re having a BBQ, drinks and nibbles, just hope it doesn’t turn into ‘Don’s Party’, and I’m awake to watch Barrie’s final hosting of Insiders.
