Aboriginal art quiz for NITV

Steven Oliver to host Faboriginal, filmed at the Art Gallery of NSW, for NITV.

NITV has commissioned an eight-part Aboriginal art quiz Faboriginal based on a 2018 live event by Art Gallery of NSW.

Produced by Noble Savage Pictures, the quiz show, which is currently filming in front of a live audience at the Art Gallery of NSW, is hosted and co-created by comedian, actor and writer, Steven Oliver (Black Comedy).

He will be joined by two teams of celebrity contestants including Elaine Crombie, Daniel Browning, Meyne Wyatt, Ursula Yovich, Emma Donovan, and Shari Sebbens, who will battle it out to answer  questions about Aboriginal art.

Faborginal is a wonderful way for us to give Indigenous art the profile it deserves and to show its importance within an artistic, cultural and societal context,” said Oliver.

NITV’s Channel Manager, Tanya Orman said, “NITV is committed to telling stories of the world’s oldest continuing culture, and Faboriginal is a fantastic opportunity to share Aboriginal art with Australian audiences. Art plays a key element in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and the Art Gallery of NSW has a remarkable collection. There’ll be plenty of laughs to be had, whether you’re an art expert or not!”

Cara Pinchbeck, Senior Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art at the Art Gallery of NSW said, “We are thrilled to be able to profile the works by the extraordinary artists represented in our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art collection in such a fun way.”

It will broadcast on NITV next year.

  1. I had for a long time thought that NITV was missing a game show or quiz show format. Maybe with the exception of Go Lingo, which was for children anyway.
