Foxtel Now mobile customers to be shifted to Foxtel GO app

Foxtel is retiring its Foxtel Now mobile app and shifting online customers to the Foxtel GO app.

From tomorrow Foxtel Now customers on mobile will be directed to download the Foxtel GO app via Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

Foxtel GO allows for Live viewing and catch-up for all customers while Foxtel Now was designed for those who were online or mobile customers only.

Foxtel Chief Product and Strategy Officer Alice Mascia said: “We have been investing in the Foxtel GO app to provide all our customers with the best of TV and on demand on their mobile device.

“By focussing on one app, we will also add more value for Foxtel Now customers by providing access to popular features and support from Foxtel GO that were previously unavailable on the Foxtel Now app.

“These features include a preview screen to watch show trailers, an expanded Kids homepage and support for Android 10 and iOS 13, providing them with an even better mobile experience.

“Foxtel GO means Foxtel customers and their families never need to miss out on big sporting moments or new drama, anytime, anywhere when they’re away from the big screen or away from home.”

  1. What I really want is to be able to cast to another TV for free. That would add value to the overpriced subscription. You can’t do this unless you have an online only subscription. Also why not just add the TV guide to rig Foxtel Go app and they could get rid of the My Foxtel app. I use the My Foxtel app everyday to add recordings to my planner.

    • Agreed – as if we aren’t paying enough for Foxtel already, then they want to charge us another $10 – 15/month to cast shows to my TV via Chromecast. No thanks – I’ll just do it for free using Google Chrome’s built-in “Cast tab” feature.

  2. Good to see they’re simplifying it. It was always a bit confusing searching for “Foxtel” online or in the App Store and getting two different Foxtel apps that look identical in their app store listings.
