When Friends on GO tops the demos in primetime across all channels what can the main networks genuinely do to attract eyes. 10 had a good chance to get some sampling last night but it bombed.
It didn’t? Nine News, Seven News, NRL and Batman Begins were ahead of Friends according to above. And 7flix was ahead of 9Go in total people.
Goodbye Rove. Rove needs to rethink his online career. Not the drawcard he once may have been. Pity l feel we need a variety show on Saturday night.
To be fair, the show is only 1 hour, or just 48 minutes excluding ads. It should have been a good 90 minutes. And I’m afraid that although television and we viewers have changed in the last decade, Rove has not. He ‘shouts’ at the camera, seems to think he’s still doing stand up, and has not let go of Rove Live.
As a host he completely lacks warmth and charisma, relying on comedians around him to provide one-liners and sight gags that were stale years ago. This show seems to be like all the bad comedy bits of Hey Hey Its Saturday (when it was a morning show in the 70’s) and scrappy humourless live crosses.
It makes Saturday Night Takeaway look like champagne television. To go from 244,000 to 138,000 in a week is unsurprising, and indicative of what Mr McManus has dished up.
How did Romancing the Stone’s sequel Jewel of the Nile rate?
Think it’s too late now – by at least five years – to try something ‘new’ on Saturday nights. If you’re in and not following sport, it’s the perfect night for catching up on shows from earlier in the week, streaming, box sets, etc. 10’s new owners should go all out to get some sport back into the fixture when the next round of negotiations come up. Up until then, maybe skew a bit older on Saturday nights to grab a bigger share of the actual audience available. Not an easy fix.
No AFl makes the Rove numbers even worse reading. Might be a while before another variety show is considered by any network
First episode of Rove wasn’t too bad I thought. Some genuinely amusing moments, a reasonable nucleus to build upon. However last night I felt it took a big step backwards. It is good to encourage up and coming talent but Id never even heard of most of the guests and I didn’t think they were particularly funny. Maybe Kevin Rudd should be the resident comedian as sadly he was one of the funniest people on the show last night.
Low ratings can to some extent be explained by split schedules. For example, here in Adelaide we had SANFL Football on Seven from 3Pm-6PM, then 7PM-10PM. On that, if anyone has numbers for the SANFL games on Seven I’d be really interested to see how it went!
Oh my God, what a wasteland outside of news last night. One 300k, the rest 200k or sunk into the abyss 🙁
No more footy = switch off. Bring on finals.
Ouch rove not even making it into the top 20 bluey even beats it you have to feel a bit sorry for ten there trying but it’s not paying off there main channel comes 6th I wonder if rove will make it to the end
Wow. Thanks Rove. 10 less than half of ABC and beaten by SBS.
The numbers for Rove = not good at all. Embarrassing really. Ten’s share: 5.5%, beaten by 7flx: 5.6%.
Sunrise is 6th? Wow (plus “Early” and “Late” segments make the top 20 too). I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sunrise – or any daytime show – be that high on the charts?
7flix movie makes a rare entry in the top 20, with 1984’s Romancing the Stone movie.
(But to be fair – numbers seem lower across the board in primetime last night for some reason).
Yeah they are for instance last week Antiques Roadshow got 203,000 and was 20th, this week it’s 9th with 223,000 (Poldark is a similar story 17th to 5th with similar ratings), though to be fair last week there was The Ashes and AFL on and this week there isn’t. However still, it seems that people may have taken the lack of Sport on free-to-air to catchup on some streaming shows perhaps
Saturday Night Rove 138,000.
One would have to think immediate cancellation on those figures-not worth the cost of ongoing production!
Would anybody notice.
