Airdate: Australia Day (movie)

Kriv Stenders 2017 filmed in Brisbane has a Free to Air premiere on 7TWO.

Kriv Stenders 2017 movie Australia Day has a Free to Air premiere this weekend on 7TWO.

The Hoodlum film written by Stephen M. Irwin was shot in Brisbane and screened in cinemas and through Foxtel.

It stars Bryan Brown, Matthew Le Nevez, Shari Sebbens, Sean Keenan, Daniel Webber, Elias Anton, Jenny Wu, Miah Madden, Isabelle Cornish, Phoenix Raei and Ernie Dingo.

Australia Day takes place over a 12-hour period on our most controversial national holiday, interweaving the stories of three Australians from diverse backgrounds – 14-year-old Indigenous girl, April (Madden); 17-year-old Iranian-Australian boy, Sami (Anton) and 19-year-old Chinese teen, Lan (Wu).

Whilst the nation celebrates with beach/backyard barbeques and Hottest 100 / pool parties, these three individuals find themselves alone and facing issues of racism, oppression and violence – each terrified for their own life. When their respective paths cross with police officer Sonya (Sebbens); Australian teen Jason (Webber) and failed farmer Terry (Brown), all must make choices and sacrifices. All will find there is a heavy price to pay, but heart and hope will help them to create meaningful change.

9:30pm Sunday on 7TWO.

      1. I don’t think we should feel bad about ourselves, but we should all be better informed of the atrocities carried out by those who colonised this country. It should be taught in schools, not swept under the carpet as though it never happened.

  1. Seven’s long-running output with Icon (formerly Dendy) has given them some great FTA premieres/re-runs over the years. This, as well as Last Cab To Darwin, Hacksaw Ridge, The Iron Lady, The Grey, Zero Dark Thirty, The Passion, Slumdog Millionaire, Death At A Funeral, The Queen. It’s founded/owned by Mel Gibson, so naturally all his indie movies too.
