Renewed: Shameless US confirms final season

US Gallagher clan to have 11th and final season.

Shameless US has been renewed for an 11th and final season.

Showtime president of entertainment Gary Levine said, “The characters of Shameless have brought Showtime viewers more laughs and tears and pure enjoyment than any program in our history.

“While we are sad to bid the Gallaghers farewell, we couldn’t be more confident in the ability of showrunner John Wells, his writing team and this great cast to bring our series to its appropriately Shameless conclusion.”

“I’m unbelievably thankful for all of the years of support from Gary Levine and everyone at Showtime that’s allowed us to make Shameless,” said Wells. “It’s been a fantastic experience and all of us in the cast and crew have had a wonderful time following the lives of the Gallagher family and friends. It’s been a pleasure!”

The series stars William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan, Christian Isaiah, Noel Fisher and Kate Miner.

Based on the UK original by Paul Abbott, it screens in Australia on FOX Showcase.

  1. UK Netflix is frustratingly a couple of series behind but good they’re bringing it to the end. Don’t know how Emmy leaving has affected quality but so far it has held up much better than the UK version did in it latter years. Been great actually to see a successful adaptation of a UK format (especially a show that seemed so British) and been great to see it go in a very different direction, helped by not losing the key cast early on.

  2. Well I was debating on giving up the show when Emmy Rossum left because I felt she was the heart and soul of the show (and completely robbed of any Emmy or Golden Globe nominations)… she consistently gave standout performances in a pretty busy ensemble cast. But S10 has motored along nicely… the amazing thing is that there is never a dull moment with the Gallagher clan… it’s remarkable how consistent it has been…
but all good things must come to an end and I agree with this decision. Fiona better return for the final few episodes!
