The final episode of Great Australian Railway Journeys screens on Tuesday as Michael Portillo travels from Newcastle To Brisbane.
SBS also had Portillo make a statement on bushfire-affected areas earlier this year.
Michael Portillo is on the eastern coast of Australia travelling from the coal mines of Newcastle, New South Wales, to Queensland’s modern state capital, Brisbane. Along the way, he crosses the mighty Hawkesbury River to admire magnificent scenery, tends to an injured koala, gets some tips from an Aussie rugby legend, and rides a solar-powered train.
7:30pm Tuesday on SBS.

This has been an excellent series with strong production values. It has also taken a Pom to show the rest of us many aspects of OZ that we did not know existed. Well done !
Yes he could have departed right from the heart of Newcastle but yeah.

They've been screening a text-statement from Portillo at the end of each episode.
