Kim Millar will become the Nightly News on Seven Tasmania news anchor, following the departure of Jo Palmer.
Millar will be a familiar face to Tasmanian audiences, having read the weekend news for nearly 10 years until 2011. She has more than 25 years’ experience as a journalist, producer and presenter.
producing the Big Australia series and is on the board of Self Help Tasmania.
SCA Director of News – Tasmania, Grant Wilson, said, “Kim has a wealth of experience as a journalist, producer and news presenter, and her connection with our audience is well-established.
“Our team will benefit from her vast experience, both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes. I’m grateful that Peter Murphy has been able to act as our stand-in presenter, allowing us to go through an in-depth process to select the best possible person for the job.”
“I’m heading back to the place where I started my career more than 30 years ago, as a 17-year-old,” she said. “TV studios have always been a big part of my life, so I guess it really is like returning to the family fold. Nightly News on Seven Tasmania has played a significant role in keeping Tasmanians up to date with what’s happening around them. I am eager to maintain that, and alongside a skilled team, continually strive to be the state’s leading and trusted source for local, national and international news.”
She will start on April 20.
