Network on SBS World Movies
See the film in which Peter Finch was as "mad as hell and not gonna take it any more."

While people are looking for alternatives I thought this movie would be fun to draw to your attention…
Network (1976) is screening tonight on SBS World Movies.
This is the film in which a TV network cynically exploits a deranged ex-TV anchor’s ravings and revelations about the media for their own profit.
It famously stars Peter Finch raving that he was as “mad as hell” about the state of television (as per Micallef’s opening titles), and also stars Faye Dunaway and William Holden.
A modern classic.
9:30pm tonight on SBS World Movies.

Just saw it again tonight.Absolutely brilliant and way ahead of its time.It seemed to predict everything that would happen in news and entertainment, except for the assassination of a news reader because of low ratings,of course!
Well,,,not yet!
Sooooo very disappointing when this channel screens older english language movies without captions. What is stopping SBS acquiring subtitled versions of product which has already been around for a long time?
Sometimes these movies haven’t been sighted on FTA for years & then they still aren’t accessible!
I wanted to watch this. Got as far as Peter Finch’s on-air meltdown before I gave up, simply due to no captioning. I’ll find it on Stan and watch it tonight. Another reason why, after 55 years I’m ditching FTA, except for ABC News.
It was mentioned on another site that it was 38 years this week since the Australian television premiere. I went looking for it on the usual streaming services but couldn’t find it. Thanks for letting us know of the availability on SBS OD.
It’s on Stan, according to JustWatch justwatch.com/au/movie/network
And a posthumous Academy Award.
Still pertinent.
The greatest films are appearing on World Movies. I recall we laughed at Sybil the Soothsayer but what do we now have on morning television?
